CIS Response to COVID-19

March 16, 2020

To our CIS community,

First of all, thank you for being supportive and dedicated to our mission and vision of student success. We are especially grateful for your support during times like these, when our students, staff, and families can be greatly impacted.

In an effort to keep our CIS family safe, we will be closing our central office beginning March 16 and will remain closed at least through March 27. We are in communication with the school districts we serve and are monitoring CDC guidance daily, doing our best to help prevent community spread of COVID-19. Below are a few ways we will continue serving the community through the coming weeks:

  • All CIS employees are being equipped to work remotely and will do their best to maintain normal working availability.

  • All programming will continue, albeit a little creatively! Our team will be making contact with students and families by phone and begin putting resources together for at home learning activities.

  • Staff are working with campus and community efforts to ensure students are receiving meals and having basic needs met while away from school.

  • CIS is building a resource page on our website that will provide school and community updates and educational and informational resources.

The mission of Communities In Schools of the Heart of Texas is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. Whether we are on our campuses directly working with students or working from our homes, our commitment to our mission never wavers. We will innovate, create, and adapt to ensure all students are supported and find success in the coming weeks.

Thank you for all you do to push us forward. Take care of each other, and be safe.
