Mission Statement: The mission of Communities In Schools of the Heart of Texas is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.
Overview: The Communities In Schools of the Heart of Texas (CISHOT) Board of Directors provides strategic leadership and fiduciary oversight to ensure the successful fulfillment of the organization’s mission. The Board supports and evaluates the Chief Executive Officer, who leads the day-to-day operations and implementation of CISHOT programs and services.
Board members bring diverse expertise in education, finance, law, nonprofit management, human resources, and community engagement to guide long-term organizational sustainability and uphold the quality and impact of CISHOT’s work year after year.
The CISHOT Board consists of up to nine voting members, each serving two year terms. Members are expected to attend regular board meetings, 7 per year, which are held in person. Additional meetings may be scheduled as needed. Per the Boards attendance policy, members may be subject to removal if they miss three meetings in a twelve month period.
In addition to governance and strategic planning responsibilities, Board members are stewards of the organization’s financial health. This includes ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local reporting requirements in accordance with CISHOT’s 501(c)3 non-profit status.
